Calling All Women Racers!

The Lady Liberty Regatta is returning to New York Harbor September 17-18, 2022! Top women’s sailing teams from around the world are invited to compete in this unique regatta, racing in front of New York Harbor’s iconic Statue of Liberty.

Hosted by the Manhattan Yacht Club and sponsored by the New York Harbor Sailing Foundation, the Regatta began in 1989 as part of Fleet Week. Historically the Lady Liberty Regatta has drawn top sailors from across the country. Beginning in 2022, the regatta will also be opened up to international teams.

The New York Harbor Sailing Foundation and the Manhattan Yacht Club are committed to celebrating and promoting the growth of women’s sailing.

Regatta Details

Entries: Any all-woman team may apply to participate.
Entry Fee: The entry fee is $400 which covers the cost of the boat charter.

Damage Deposit: There is a $500 damage deposit which will be refunded to teams at the end of the regatta unless your team causes damage to one of the J/24 sailboats.

Deadline: There are 12 spots in the 2022 regatta. Entries will be evaluated and accepted as they arrive.

Rules: The regatta will be raced according to the International Racing Rules of Sailing as adopted by US Sailing and modified by the Sailing Instructions.

Crew: This is an event for women sailors. Unlimited crew substitution of similar weight will be allowed during the regatta.

Boats and Equipment

This regatta will be raced on identical J/24 sailboats provided by Manhattan Yacht Club.

The mainsails, genoas and jibs, plus sheets and all other equipment except spinnakers will be provided.

Teams may bring their own J/24 Class spinnakers. No other equipment may be brought aboard. If a team needs to borrow a spinnaker, we will assist you.

Teams will rotate boats after each race.

Races will be held in New York Harbor. Unique to our regatta, spectators will be able to watch the races each day from the Honorable William Wall, MYC’s clubhouse on the water next to Ellis Island. The clubhouse will be open to members of MYC, friends and family of the competitors, as well as the general public.
